For all of us who own & use handheld phone calls. It turns out according to the sources of information acquired from the ASRS (Aviation Safety Reporting System) that the phone has a large contributor to aviation security. There have been many cases of aircraft accidents that happened cause by the phone. Perhaps the information below can be beneficial for us all & especially who often go by plane.
Case examples:
Cross Air plane with flight number LX498 just "take-off" from Zurich airport, Switzerland. Moments later, the aircraft fell swoop. Ten passengers were killed. Researchers found evidence of cell phone signal interference on the aircraft steering system
Qantas Boeing 747 suddenly tilt to one side and climb as high as 700 feet more precisely while being "final approach" to "landing" at Heathrow airport, London. The cause is due to three passengers not turn off the computer, CD player, and electronic games respectively (The Australian, 23-9-1998).
As we know in Indonesia, when the aircraft wheels touch the runway, we’ll hear some newly activated cell phone. The "transgressor of the law" seems to not comprehend that their actions may harm other passengers, as well as a nuisance to others comfortable.
Here is a form of interferences occurring in aircraft: Upward fly swerve,HSI (Horizontal Situation Indicator) interrupted, causing disorder VOR (VHF Omni directional Receiver) inaudible, navigation system disorders, disorders of communication frequencies, fuel indicator Harassment, Harassment system automatic steering, all above disturbance caused by cell phone, while other disturbances such as computer compass directions disorder caused by CD & Game Harassment ,indicator CDI (Course deviation Indicator) caused by gameboy. All the above information is sourced from the ASRS.
By looking at the above list of interference we can see that not only when the aircraft is flying, but when the aircraft is moving on the track already considerable disruption due to use of mobile phones.
FYI, the phone not only sends and receives radio waves but also radiate electrical energy to reach the BTS (Base Transceiver Station). A cell phone can reach the BTS which is 35 kilometers. That is, at an altitude of 30,000 feet could reach hundreds of BTS cell phone that is under it. (In Jakarta alone is estimated to have around 600 BTS all of which can at once accessible to an active cell phone in a moving aircraft on Jakarta.
If when we go by plane, be patient for a while. Everyone knows we have a phone. Everyone knows we're rushing. Everyone knows we are important people. But, to protect each other, and appreciate each other . Do not activate your phone in the aircraft.
